Department of Veterans Affairs – Homelessness Campaign Development

Challenges

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Task Order 4 (TOPR 4) supports the Veteran Homelessness Program, an effort with the goal of eliminating homelessness among veterans by 2015.

With VA estimates suggesting roughly 107,000 veterans any given night are homeless and nearly 1.5 million more are considered at risk of homelessness, the agency has an urgent mission to communicate information about available services to a vast and hard-to-reach audience.

Vox Optima teamed with prime contractor Burson-Marsteller and other firms to reach out to those veterans with a concentrated communications strategy.

Solutions

Vox Optima helped VA expand its communications efforts by creating content for the “Outreach Tool Kit,” including tri-fold brochures, posters and other creative materials explaining services available to homeless veterans and those at-risk in a clear and understandable way.

Vox Optima’s contributions to this effort have grown since the contract started as the team was able to employ more writing, editing and other creative skills.

Outcomes

Our work providing comprehensive communications solutions is ongoing. Clear and concise explanations of available services and complex issues allow veterans to understand what support VA has to offer them.

Through our support, VA has received national attention and exposure as part of its efforts to help homeless veterans. This effort demonstrates Vox Optima’s ability to support clients on a large-scale basis with national coverage.
