Our executive director and owner, Merritt Hamilton Allen, returns to the New Mexico In Focus’ The Line panel along with host, Gene Grant, director of state operations and Common Cause, Viki Harrison, New Mexico Political Report reporter, Andy Lyman, and The Albuquerque Journal reporter, Dan McKay, to discuss several issues facing the state:
Judicial ruling that the state is falling short on school funding as well as meeting most-vulnerable student needs.
The recent UNM Board of Regents vote to cut or reduce several programs including men’s soccer, men’s and women’s skiing and women’s beach volleyball from the university’s Athletics Department as a way to address the department’s financial situation.
And the panel discusses a news report from The Albuquerque Journal that shows the drop in a number of crimes in the city, while violent and property crimes are on the rise. The Line panel looks at the facts and debate approaches being used to combat these crimes in Albuquerque.
Listen to Merritt and her fellow panelists on The Line as they dig into the political, social, economic and other issues facing the people of New Mexico and the surrounding region. New Mexico In Focus is New Mexico PBS’ prime-time news magazine show appearing every Friday at 7 p.m., as well as every Sunday at 7 a.m. on Channel 5.1, and Saturday at 5 p.m. on Channel 9.1.
