Vox Optima was founded in 2005 by Merritt Hamilton Allen, who realized the need for contractor-provided public and media relations planning and support for government and military organizations. With extensive military expertise and experience, Merritt established a hybrid company that delivered these services onsite and via teleworking. This business model earned her the largest public relations contract in U.S. Navy history. Today, Vox Optima is a small but powerful strategic communication, media relations, and multimedia development company that offers comprehensive public affairs expertise, thorough research, implementation with complete follow-through, and always a custom solution.
Merritt Hamilton Allen, Owner and Executive Director
Merritt Hamilton Allen is the Owner and Executive Director of Vox Optima. She took her first job in the Navy as the assistant weapons officer at an overseas air station. Her commander found out Merritt had worked in radio since she was 13, and she was immediately reassigned as the public affairs officer. Then, when Merritt was medically boarded out of the Navy with a 60% disability rating, she took the first job that wasn’t a pay cut. That Navy organization is still a Vox Optima client 24 years later. In her previous successes, Merritt took a one-person public relations division and grew it into a seven-person team with $1 million in annual billing in her first job out of the Navy. She created 24 jobs and awarded over $30 million in Federal contracts. Merritt has also developed and implemented numerous successful strategic communication programs, promotional campaigns, and media simulation and training programs for various government and military organizations.
Merritt is a hands-on kitchen adventurer and enjoys breadmaking, cheesemaking, and rolling out her own pasta. She is also a voracious reader and spends too much time playing online RISK and chess.
