Darcy Roland recently retired from active duty military where she served in both the Coast Guard and Army. She currently works as an adjunct professor for the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, R.I. In March, Darcy was a speaker at TEDxNewport, where she talked about the importance of critical thinking. She is working on several projects including researching the unintended feedback we give when communicating, and a social media project focused on finding stories that we all share -- stories that connect us. Darcy is passionate about surfing and keeping our oceans clean. She is eager to continue her education and has plans to return to school once she figures out what she wants to be when she grows up.
